First-half - Sean Cooke penalty is saved by Matlock keeper Ross Durrant (2)

Nantwich Town’s unbeaten run came to an end after a second-half collapse saw Matlock Town win 4-1 at the Weaver Stadium, writes James Brown.

The Dabbers could have taken the lead on 13 minutes from the penalty spot after Jamie Morgan was taken down.

But a poorly taken spot kick from Sean Cooke was parried away by Matlock keeper Ross Durrant.

An opening goal came 10 minutes later following a brilliant Nantwich move.

Cooke found Craig Lindfield who played a cross into the box which was slotted home first time by Steve Jones to give the Dabbers a half-time lead.

But the second half performance was one to forget as Matlock were the much better side.

The equaliser came ten minutes in.

Craig King took advantage of poor defending and drilled a shot past Fabian Spiess.

The visitors got were in front when Cleveland Taylor curled an effort into the top left corner as Nantwich fell asleep at the back.

A stunning save from Durrant kept out a James Lawrie free-kick before Matlock made it 3-1 with 10 minutes to go when King netted his second of the afternoon, sliding a shot past Spiess into the right hand corner.

Heading into stoppage time the visitors wrapped up the points from a corner, as Spiess failed to make contact with a punch and Bradley Beatson was free at the back post to head into an empty net.

Nantwich will have to dust themselves down and provide a reaction next Saturday when they make the trip to North Ferriby United (3pm kick-off).
