Showtime - Crewe Lyceum Theatre, to stage a wedding fayre, and summer events

A new play inspired by autobiographical events is the latest production to be shown in the Studio space at Crewe Lyceum, writes Claire Faulkner.

Presented by Box of Tricks, SparkPlug is a beautiful and unique piece of theatre which tells the story of David, a young boy growing up during the 1980s in Manchester.

Written and starring David Judge, SparkPlug is a powerful and poetic monologue.

It covers so much in such a short time, and raises questions about identity, race, family and masculinity.

I was completely captivated and enthralled by this production.

From the skeleton frame of the car to the classic 80s music.

Everything worked to tell the story. As a performer, Judge is an amazing talent, but as a writer he truly excels.

SparkPlug is a play I will remember for a very long time.

The first season of the Studio Space at The Lyceum has brought three excellent touring productions to Crewe.

I hope that next season we continue to see more productions which support new writing and local talent.

SparkPlug continues to tour the UK.
