A driver was seriously injured today after a lorry and cement mixer collided on the busy A51 near Reaseheath College in Nantwich.
The accident happened at around 7am on Main Road, and the cement mixer careered into a field by the side of the road as a result of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle was left trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters and passed to the care of paramedics.
Police say he is believed to have suffered serious injuries and has been taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital.
Cheshire Fire Service say three fire engines attended from Nantwich, Crewe and Winsford.
Firefighters used specialist equipment to release the trapped driver.
Firefighters were in attendance at the scene for around two hours.
The road remains closed in both directions while accident investigation work takes place.
