Karen Delay walking at Wychwood Park (1)

A Nantwich woman is tackling an epic charity challenge by walking the equivalent of Land’s End to John o’Groats – a total of 874 miles.

Karen Delay, aged 62, is raising money in aid of the Nantwich Royal British Legion.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, RBL was unable to place the usual poppy appeal tins around Nantwich.

Therefore, the Legion was more restricted in raising much needed funds to support the Armed Forces community.

Karen started her circular walks within Wychwood Park at the end of September and hopes to finish in Wychwood in February 2021.

She said: “2020 has been a tough year for everyone, including all charities.

“The Nantwich British Legion have found raising funds to be especially difficult as most volunteers are in the vulnerable category.

“In 2015 I raised over £1,000 for the Nantwich BL Poppy Appeal by completing the Royal Marine Training course in Lympstone, Devon, which was great fun.

“In September, a friend told me about the “End to End” challenge, which I thought would be a great way to try to raise more funds for them.

“If anyone would normally pop a pound or two in the Poppy Appeal tins and would like to donate, the Nantwich British Legion would be very grateful.

“All money goes towards helping our Armed forces, past and present.”
