Abbie Ozard - Glastonbury singer

A Nantwich singer’s dream of performing at Glastonbury has been shattered after the event was cancelled this year due to the pandemic.

Abbie Ozard had been invited to perform due to her success with more than 1.7 million Spotify streams if her songs.

But organisers of the world-famous festival recently announced they are cancelling for a second year running, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It really sucks that live music isn’t happening at the moment,” said Abbie, 23.

“I’m trying to do everything in my power to keep ploughing on.”

The singer-songwriter has also had to cancel previous performance dates in Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, Brighton and Oxford.

Despite these setbacks, it has not stopped her from receiving more than 1.7 million streams on Spotify, as well as continuing to work on new music throughout the pandemic.

“I wouldn’t have created half the stuff I have without lockdown happening, so in that way it’s such a good thing, but I really miss playing live shows,” she added.

“It’s really cool to see other artists adjusting and promoting their music in different ways.”

Her career started in 2017 after winning the ‘Words and Music Festival‘, a local competition for those passionate about song writing.

The competition is judged by industry professionals, including BBC Radio 6 Music Presenter Chris Hawkins.

However, she has come a long way since then, with her new release “True Romance” inspired by the Quentin Tarantino film that shares the same title.

Some scenes for the song’s video were filmed in Nantwich, including Ginger and Pickles tearooms on Mill Street, Welsh Row, the River Weaver and Nantwich Lake.
