A baby club set up in Nantwich during the pandemic lockdown is booming!
Baby Club Cheshire was the brainchild of young mum Steph Tully when her youngest daughter Izzy was just six-months-old.
The 33-year-old, originally from the North East, has now launched a four-week baby massage course at the Imagination Lane centre on Wettenhall Road in Poole, Nantwich.
And the former wedding planner has seen her new venture take off as more parents seek to spend valuable time with their little ones.
The mother-of-two, who lives nearby in Tattenhall after nearly 10 years in Liverpool, said the pandemic lockdown sparked the idea.
“I felt like I had missed out on making memories with my littlest with everything closed for months on end,” she added.
“But the one thing I’d done with both my girls when they were tiny was baby massage.
“We still use this to soothe and calm my children as part of their bedtime routine and they’re almost 4 and 2 now!
“In my own experience, baby massage was a wonderful gentile practice that gave me the chance to carve out an hour of my week to make memories and bond with my babies.
“But also learn some tips and tricks to keep in my parenting toolbox when we needed them – for example, tummy troubles, sleepless nights and colic.
“I decided that I wanted to bring the practice of baby massage to all the local mums, dads and caregivers in the area.”
And that’s how Steph’s Baby Club Cheshire was born.
The four-week course focuses on a different area of the body each week and by the end parents will learn strokes and techniques for the whole body.
“We start the session with a warm up to get the babies used to the sensation of the oil on their bodies.
“Then we focus on the specific area for that class, for example the tummy.
“We learn our colic relief routine and talk about the symptoms and causes of colic and how massage can help.
“It’s completely baby led! We always ask baby’s permission before we start the massage – and all the strokes are adaptable so babies can be in their most comfortable position.
“Everything you need for the class including oil and sensory toys are provided and each week we do a take home craft at the end such as ink prints that are really fun and a lovely keepsake!”
Classes are suitable from five weeks until crawling.
Older babies can experience benefits of baby massage at Yoga classes suitable from 8 weeks until 18 months.
