Nearly 93% of parents have secured their first choice primary school for September 2019 admission, according to Cheshire East Council.

Admissions figures show local schools offered 98.4% of Cheshire East residents a place at a school of their choice – with nearly 93% being offered their first preference.

Cheshire East Council defends £1,000-a-day temporary officer

The hiring of a temporary officer for more than £1,000 a day has been defended by Cheshire East Council chiefs who insist the alternatives were more costly.

Cheshire East has hired an interim officer to take on the role of monitoring officer – a role required by law, with responsibility for ensuring the council’s code of conduct is followed by members and officers.

Nurses from the children’s ward at Leighton Hospital teamed up with a Women’s Refuge and YMCA to pick up a collection of 156 Easter Eggs at Richmond Village in Nantwich.

The Nantwich retirement village appealed to its residents and members of the community for three weeks to donate Easter eggs ahead of Easter weekend.

A beached pilot whale and several dolphins and seals have been successfully rescued from the front lawn at Reaseheath College in Nantwich.

But thankfully this was a simulated rescue to enable 40 Animal Science students to gain an internationally recognised qualification in wildlife rescue!

Nantwich Town made it back-to-back Cheshire Senior Cup titles with a convincing 5-2 victory over Cammell Laird 1907 at Altrincham FC.

The Dabbers were quick out of the blocks, looking composed in possession and producing some lovely link-up play which ultimately led to the opening goal of the game on nine minutes from the penalty spot.
