Six-month delay to Cheshire East Local Plan after planning inspector’s criticism

A damning report by a Planning Inspector has told Cheshire East Council its long-awaited Local Plan is still not good enough to be adopted.

The blow, described as “regrettable” by council chiefs, was delivered by an inspector giving his “interim views” on the Plan’s soundness and legal compliance.

Audlem Special Events Team estimate that more than 2,000 people attended the bonfire and award-winning Blitz Fireworks, to watch the choreographed display to popular music.

A man from Shavington near Nantwich has been charged alongside 11 others after a series of dawn raids across Cheshire.

Two other men and a woman from Crewe weere also among the 12 people who appeared in court today (November 7) charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs.

Disabled Iain Fryatt has stunned experts by climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world – in a wheelchair made in Nantwich!

Iain achieved a world first by reaching Uhuru Peak on Mt Kilimanjaro, a height of 5,895 metres, using the all-terrain Mountain Trike designed and built on Wybunbury Road in Walgherton.

A councillor is furious that plans to demolish a historic Nantwich village pub were pushed through, despite a council conservation officer’s recommendation to save it.

The owners of The Horse Shoe Inn, on Newcastle Road, Willaston have applied to knock the closed pub down to make way for potential housing on the site.
