Council issues flooding alert in South Cheshire as roads are closed

Residents and drivers across Cheshire East are being warned to be aware of potential flooding problems this week.

Cheshire East Council highways teams have to close three roads due to floods today (January 4), including Windmill Lane in Buerton near Nantwich, and Maw Lane and Gresty Lane in Crewe.

Staff at the RSPCA wildlife centre in Nantwich are treating a number of gannets which were blown off course by Storm Desmond.

The seabirds are currently at Stapeley Grange, on London Road, after they were found grounded and exhausted having been blown off-course by the strong winds.
