Residents living along a notorious stretch of the A51 in Nantwich have won a battle to reduce its speed limit to 30mph. Families have fought for 13 years to restrict the speed along the road near Reaseheath College.
A woman had to be cut free from her car after a smash on the A51 in Nantwich closed the road for nearly two hours. The 28-year-old was seriously injured when her Toyota Yaris was in collision with a white Ford Transit close to the junction with First Dig Lane, Stapeley.
A three-vehicle road accident on the A51 in Reaseheath caused chaos for hundreds of drivers in and around Nantwich. The accident happened at around 8.45am today (January 16), involving one HGV and two cars.
Nantwich residents were given the chance to discuss plans by Reaseheath College to sell off land for a 1,100-home estate, shops and new school. The proposals for the 64-acre plot between the A51 and Welshman’s Lane could net the college up to £20 milllion.
Police don’t believe the huge fire which engulfed a Nantwich metal merchants and brought traffic around the town to a standstill was not suspicious. The blaze at Garratt’s Metals, on Alvaston Business Park, forced police to close the A500, A51 and A530 routes in the Reaseheath and Sainsbury’s area because of thick plumes of smoke affecting drivers.

Firefighters were called to the fire at Garratt’s scrap metal yard, off Middlewich Road, at about 6am this morning (Oct 7). The fire was found to involve a large quantity of scrap metal which is on the site.
Drivers are being warned of long delays after a lorry accident on the A500/A51 roundabout near Reaseheath College, Nantwich. The incident is ongoing and police and highways officers have closed off the roundabout in all directions as well as Barony Road into Nantwich. A police spokeswoman confirmed the lorry overturned and crashed into a lamp-post before spilling its load of grit across the carriageway.
