In the years that Cllr David Brown has been a Cheshire East borough councillor, he was the portfolio holder for highways and deputy leader of Cheshire East Council, until he lost his position due to a police enquiry over funding.

Has anyone else noticed that every time Cllr Sam Corcoran, Leader of Cheshire East Council, is criticised for his lack of leadership, or his infringements of freedom of speech, or his erosion of democracy, he immediately harps back to “appalling behaviour of Conservatives”?
Two more political parties have named their Prospective Parliamentary Candidates who will compete for the Crewe & Nantwich seat in a forthcoming General Election.

Last week’s front page of the Chronicle seemed to be ‘givin it large’ about Kieran Mullan’s suggestion that Cheshire East Council needs to apply for an injunction to prevent travellers occupying the Barony Park, as though an injunction is the “silver bullet” to prevent further occupation.
Nantwich Town councillor David Marren has been expelled by his party for comments he made about lack of action over travellers on Barony Park.

Brexit’s role in the demise of Cheshire East Council’s Conservative group has been downplayed by their political rivals.
The Tories suffered a shock loss of control, ending with 34 CEC members – eight short of the number needed for a majority – with Labour on 25, Independents on 19 and Liberal Democrats on four.
Conservatives have lost control of Cheshire East Council after the local elections as they felt the backlash from disgruntled voters.
The Tories retained Nantwich South and Stapeley, as well as rural wards such as Audlem, Wrenbury, Bunbury, Wybunbury and Willaston.
Thursday May 2 could be a turning point in local politics.
Borough, town and parish council elections will provide the ‘fall out’ – if any – from Brexit among voters in Cheshire and across the UK.

The full list of candidates for next month’s Cheshire East Council elections have been confirmed.
Voters will head to the polls on Thursday May 2 to decide who they want to represent them on the borough council for the next four years.
Labour’s Laura Smith has produced a stunning Labour victory in the Crewe and Nantwich of the 2017 General Election.
The Stapeley businesswoman overturned a Conservative majority of more than 3,000 to win by just 48 votes.
Candidates battling for election to Nantwich Town Council have been announced.
Twelve councillors in all will be voted in on May 7 – seven to represent Nantwich and West Ward, and five to represent Nantwich South.
UKIP councillors in Crewe and Nantwich said today a Tory MP’s defection to their party is a “fantastic boost”.

A Nantwich town councillor is quitting the Conservatives to join UKIP. Cllr Stuart Hutton, 35, announced the decision this week, just over a year after being elected to the town council.
