A trust which provides specialised care for adults with learning and physical disabilities in Cheshire East has slammed the funding it receives from the council as “shameful”.
The Rossendale Trust provides supported living care to adults with learning and physical disabilities, in purpose-built apartments and houses.

Cheshire East Council has 75 full time vacancies it is struggling to fill at its Care4CE service provider at a time when pressure is mounting with more people needing care.
The council is ramping up its recruitment efforts but Jill Broomhall, operational director of adult social care at Cheshire East Council, said the private sector was struggling too, with lower paid staff leaving for higher paid jobs in other sectors and managers being head-hunted.

Nantwich “Covid” heroes have been honoured at a town council awards event to hail those who have gone the extra mile to help during the pandemic.
The awards were staged in place of the annual Mayor’s Salt of the Earth awards which have been on hold for two years due to the pandemic.
Nantwich Council staff were verbally abused as they installed ‘social distancing’ reminder signs on town centre benches, councillors were told.

Nantwich remains under a Floor Alert along the River Weaver catchment after more heavy rain and the forecast of snow this weekend.
The Environment Agency has placed the Weaver Catchment on Flood Alert along its stretch including Crewe, Frodsham, Winsford and Northwich.
Nantwich’s monthly Farmers’ Markets will make a welcome return to Nantwich Town Square on Saturday August 29.
The markets have been postponed for the past five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
