Parents and carers of children eligible for income-related free school meals can now book activities online as part of the scheme run by Cheshire East Council.

Two hundred of Cheshire East Council’s 3,200 staff have an access card to park for FREE in the multi-storey car park in Crewe.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service asked the council about staff parking after a Crewe businessman said he had witnessed cars leaving
at the same time on numerous days and driving straight through on number plate recognition.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and sadness over the decision not to offer free car parking days in Nantwich this year in the lead-up to Christmas.
This has been a much-valued initiative in recent years, providing a real boost to local businesses during the festive season.

Drivers are paying to use a Nantwich car park when they don’t have to because of confusion over official signs.
Official signs on Snow Hill car park say charges apply until 6pm. But an old laminated A4 sheet higher up says it’s “free after three”.

Cheshire East Council has refused a formal request from the Conservatives to reconsider the decision to introduce parking charges in free towns and hike up prices in others.
The highways and transport committee last month voted in favour of changes to the parking policy, which includes introducing charges in the existing ‘free’ towns and villages of Audlem, Alsager, Bollington, Handforth, Holmes Chapel, Middlewich, Poynton, Prestbury and Sandbach.

Cheshire East Council is to consult the public on introducing Sunday and evening parking charges along with cashless machines after the move was backed by councillors.
The decision to hold a further public consultation was taken immediately after the highways and transport committee agreed to introduce parking charges in the currently ‘free’ towns and villages and hike up fees in those which already pay.

Cheshire East Council bosses refused to scrap parking charges until the end of the year to help high street shops because it can’t afford to lose an estimated £180,000.
Each town which has pay and display has four days free parking per year and the dates for this are decided by the relevant town or parish council.
A new ‘Warm PlaCEs’ scheme to help people facing the cost-of-living crisis has been launched by Cheshire East Council.
Warm PlaCEs are spaces where people can go for free to spend time to keep warm if they are struggling to heat or keep their homes warm.
Four free car parking days are being offered in Nantwich and other towns in a bid to boost retailers emerging from the pandemic.
A previous parking incentive scheme is due to expire on August 31 2022.

The new Nantwich Roots Festival begins tomorrow celebrating folk, roots and Americana and bringing internationally known names to Nantwich.
It is also giving a stage to new, emerging acts in the town from May 11-15.
PCR testing sites in Crewe and Macclesfield will be closed from Friday (April 1) as part of central government plans to close all free testing sites by the end of March.
Also, from Friday 1 April, free LFD tests will end.
