New library opening hours in Nantwich and across Cheshire East will come into effect from December 1.
The changes will be at all sites across the borough except for Alderley Edge library where the new opening hours will go live on Tuesday 5 December.
Nantwich Town councillors have agreed to pay £22,000 to keep the town’s library open for an extra half day.
But a debate at last night’s town council meeting descended into a political row over the issue.

Shorter hours for Cheshire East’s dial-a-ride bus service could leave some vulnerable residents cut off, councillors have warned.
Cheshire East Council-owned firm Transport Service Solutions (TSS) will take over the service, currently known as Little Bus, from private provider D&G Bus on Monday, August 5.
Nantwich pub The White Horse has been forced to reduce its operating hours after undergoing a licence review, town councillors were told.
The pub on Pillory Street has applied for a variation of its premises licence following the review sparked by complaints from residents in the town.
