More than 900 nominations have been made for the latest Shop Local Nantwich Awards.

Cheshire East Council has been slow to respond to some of the problems it faces and at times appears overwhelmed by the challenge, an independent panel says.
The independent assurance panel was set up provide external advice, challenge, and expertise to the cash-strapped council in driving forward improvement and transformation.

At last week’s full Council meeting we witnessed an irate Independent Leader attempt to hold his Labour partners to account, as they kicked-back over scrapping the Strategic Planning Board to save money.
He spectacularly failed!

The leader of the Independent group on Cheshire East Council said the Conservative group would be running the council with them if they had agreed to share the leadership.
Cllr Craig Browne’s tweet came after Conservative group leader Janet Clowes said she found it “extraordinary” the Independents had agreed to run the council with Labour again and give residents “four more years of the same”.

Cheshire East Council will again be run by a joint Labour/Independent administration for the next four years.
Independent group leader Cllr Craig Browne confirmed his members had opted to work with Labour rather the Conservatives following “intense negotiations” with both parties.

If they listened to their residents and to my Conservative colleagues, they would hear the calls for discussion and debate about so many things.
