Bunbury Councillor Michael Jones is the new Leader of Cheshire East Council, despite a late challenge by Nantwich Independent Cllr Arthur Moran. Cllr Jones, also leader of the Conservative group, won an election after receiving 48 of the 73 votes cast.
Nantwich’s new Mayor was sworn in at a ceremony in Brookfield Hall in front of dozens of people. Cllr Graham Fenton was unanimously voted in by Nantwich Town councillors to take over from outgoing Mayor Cllr Arthur Moran.
A charity night in honour of the Mayor of Nantwich’s late wife is to be held in the town’s Civic Hall this month. Mayor Cllr Arthur Moran wants the evening to help pay tribute to his wife Margaret who died in January after a short battle with cancer.
