Nantwich hospital patients will have access to improved emergency care at Leighton Hospital after the trust was awarded the status of Major Trauma Receiving Unit. University Hospital of North Staffordshire (UHNS) has been designated as the area’s local Major Trauma Centre, and will be supported by Leighton Hospital as a Major Trauma Unit.
Nantwich residents are being urged to attend meetings with Leighton Hospital chiefs. Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting members of the public to the next meeting of the board of directors and the next council of governors meeting.
Exclusive Doctors are probing a suspected human case of the potentially deadly disease leptospirosis, thought to have been contracted in the River Weaver in Nantwich. It’s believed a patient in intensive care at Leighton Hospital has displayed symptoms of the condition, also known as Weil’s Disease.
