More than 1,700 riders enjoyed the spring sunshine around South Cheshire when they took part in the ‘Cheshire Cat Sportive’ cycling event.

The race, sponsored by Primal Europe, started and finished at Queens Park in Crewe yesterday (March 24)

Participants were able to park and register at the nearby South Cheshire College, then move to the start/finish line.

A South Cheshire cyclist has died after he ploughed into a tree near Mow Cop, police said.

The 36-year-old victim, from Crewe, was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on Mow Lane.
