Youth parliament representatives for Cheshire East have called for more decision-making power when it comes to mental health support in schools.
Ruben Barrow, 15, from Crewe, and Millie Oldroyd, 16, from Middlewich, made the plea following the online “Taboo” conference, which aimed to highlight the mental health challenges faced by young people.
There have been 39 positive Covid cases in schools across Cheshire East, latest figures show.
And it has resulted in as many as 2,960 pupils and 123 staff having to self-isolate, says Cheshire East Council.

Parents collecting their children from school should switch their engines off to help improve air quality, says a Cheshire East Councillor.
Cllr Mick Warren, CEC cabinet member for communities, said “idling engines” is adding pollution and impacting on health.
Two new special schools catering for children aged between four and 18 across Cheshire East are set to open.
The schools, Axis Academy and Lavender Field School, aim to cater for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), such as those with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Eddisbury MP Edward Timpson said schools in Calveley and Tarporley will benefit from Government funding to improve school facilities.
The constituency has been allocated a share of £434 million investment to expand classrooms, upgrade facilities and improve education across the UK.
Cheshire East Council is continuing with a phased return of school pupils from June 15, the authority confirmed today.
It follows fears that the “R value” of the coronavirus was rising in the region and some authorities further delaying schools re-opening to wider pupil population.
Schools across Nantwich and Crewe will undergo a “phased” re-opening in June, Cheshire East Council has announced.
But parents will not be “pressured” or face non-attendance fines if they do not wish to send children to school.
Cheshire East Council says 97% of parents have secured preferential secondary school places for their children for September 2020.

Thousands of fines have been handed out to Cheshire East parents for taking their children out of school at term-time following a landmark court ruling.
Figures obtained by the Knowledge Academy under the Freedom of Information Act show both Cheshire East and West councils dished out more fixed penalty notices (FPNs) in 2018-19 than in 2017-18.
Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan says £66.4 million Government investment in local schools should be welcomed.
