A South Cheshire D-Day veteran has been awarded the MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to volunteering and history.

Bernard Morgan, who is 101, has been a highly respected volunteer at the Imperial War Museum (IWM) since 2006, contributing to the learning and visitor offer at both the North and London branches.

A spectacular ‘Cheshire Cheese Rally’ featuring veteran cars (pre-1919) brought motoring history to life in the village of Wybunbury.

A total of 28 vehicles took part, with participants gathering at The Swan Inn and Wybunbury Tower before setting off on a 40-mile scenic tour through the Cheshire countryside.
