Andy Brown, director of rugby, Crewe & Nantwich RUFC, Vase semi-final

Crewe & Nantwich RUFC will be looking to kick start their season with their opening 2015 encounter this weekend.

The Vagrants side welcome Barkers Butts to Willaston on Saturday.

And they will be hoping to put the narrow 21-18 defeat to local rivals Whitchurch behind them.

Crewe did earn a bonus point from that game on December 20, which keeps them in sixth place in Midlands 1 West.

And they will hope to extend their 100% home winning record against a bottom of the table side who have lost all their games on the road so far.

Crewe & Nantwich director of rugby Andy Brown said: “There are many thankyous to make at this stage of the season.

“Starting with the all the players for their magnificent efforts and sacrifices in training and playing – great commitment.

“Also thanks to the Andy Dudley and Andy Pemberton, the coaches, and all the committee men that make things happen, a massive thanks to all our supporters both home and away.

“And finally thanks to all the wives and girlfriends for letting us have their men during the week for training and Saturdays for the games – we know it is a lot of time and we do really appreciate it.”

Kick off at the Vagrants on Saturday (January 3) is 2.15pm.
