A Nantwich mum and her son had a dramatic escape when their car and garage went up in smoke while they were inside it.
Jane Clifton was parking her BMW in the garage at home on Burgess Close, Stapeley, when the vehicle suddenly burst into flames.
And within seconds the fire had spread to the garage rafters and contents.
Brave son Ally, a Brine Leas pupil, warned his mum they had to get out and they managed to scramble clear of the vehicle and garage before it was engulfed in flames.
Three fire appliances from Crewe and Nantwich battled to stop the fire spreading from the detached double garage to the house and neighbouring properites.
Burgess Close and part of Pollard Drive were cordoned off during the incident.
Jane’s husband Ian, a coach at Crewe & Nantwich RUFC, and other son Nathan, 10, were in Crewe at the time of the blaze.
Jane said today everyone escaped uninjured but were “very shaken”.
The dramatic picture shows the wrecked car on the left-hand side of the garage, which is also destroyed.
“That was my car on the left – not much left now, though! At least I’m still here to tell the tale.”
