A Wistaston dad who travelled to watch his beloved Stoke City play in Spain has gone missing, sparking a police hunt.

Family and friends of Peter Dykes have made an emotional appeal for help to trace him, fearing he is in a vulnerable condition.

Father-of-one Peter, 43, was last seen at Madrid Airport on Saturday (February 25).

The landscape gardener had travelled out last Wednesday with brother Chris to watch Stoke City take on Valencia in the second leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday February 23.

He was due home on Saturday and caught a flight from Valencia to Madrid but did not board any further flight.

He was expected to catch a flight from Madrid to Heathrow, and then from Heathrow to Manchester.

Peter is the father of Harry, aged 12. Peter is pictured (right) in Spain just hours before he went missing.

Wife Teresa said: “Pete has not been seen or heard from since. He is vulnerable as he suffers depression and has no medication with him now. He can suffer badly with panic attacks.

“Chris couldn’t find him, went to look for him and had to get a later flight home after he still wasn’t able to find him.

“Harry and I just want him back. We want to know he is safe.

“If anyone is with him tell him to come home, we both are missing him so much and we love so much. Or let us know if he is safe.”

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: “Police are currently trying to locate Peter Dykes after he was reported missing by his wife when he failed to return home from Valencia on Saturday.

“Cheshire Police have been liaising with Spanish Police and other authorities in order to locate him.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on the new 101 number, quoting reference number 34 26/2/12.
