Nantwich Players will have their audience in stitches with their own version of the stage hit “Calendar Girls” this week.
The story is about a group of WI ladies who decide to raise money for charity by producing an ‘alternative’ calendar.
Directed by Jeremy Acklam, this poignant and sometimes emotional play had the audience laughing at the antics, one liners and behaviour of the ‘respectable’ members of the Women’s Instsitute.
Helen Gresty played Annie, with grace and charm. Cast opposite was Tony Hoy who played husband John.
Both worked incredibly well together and gave the audience a true portrayal of love, partnership and the tragic sense of loss.
Chris was played by Michaela Warrilow, a larger than life character, who organises the calendar and persuades the ladies to take part.
The photo shoot scene is just hilarious, with comedy and laughs throughout.
Watch out for the brave souls of Ruth, played by Amber Edmondson, Greta Guest as Jessie, Jo Pennall as Celia and Avril Allman as Cora.
The production demonstrates the skill of the cast and crew, the set design and construction was superb and it’s no wonder that The Players continue to sell out their shows time after time.
A feel good play, well cast and well presented, if you’re lucky enough to have tickets for this production you’re in for a real treat.
Go along, enjoy the production, and maybe purchase one of the calendars that The Players have designed and made for charity.
