Nantwich Library is launching two new projects next month.
The venue plans to run a “Looking after Your Old Photographs” event, and start a new chess club for youngsters.
The photographs event is planned for Thursday February 28, from 6.30pm – 9pm.
Anyone with faded photographs of people they can’t recognise, can bring them along and learn how to preserve them for the future and how to date them by reading the clues.
You will have the chance to meet Lynette Banks and Linda Clarke, from Cheshire Archives & Local Studies, and discuss your photographs and anything else local or family history connected.
You can also bring your own Victorian photographs along for Lynette and Linda to assess.
Tickets are £4 which includes refreshments. Booking is essential and can be reserved by calling Nantwich Library on 01270 375361.
Library staff are on the lookout for keen young chess players to help start up a new club.
The project is an initiative with Chess in Schools and Communities.
The idea is one mooted by parents who use the library. It will be open to both primary and secondary children and to all abilities.
The library is also looking for volunteers who have a knowledge of chess to help out running the club.
If you’re interested or have a child who might be, call 01270 375361 to register.
