Cheshire East Council’s head of finance Lisa Quinn has quit, it emerged today.
Ms Quinn (left in picture), director of finance and business services, left her job by mutual agreement on Friday, a Cheshire East statement has revealed.
Her departure, along with two senior managers in December, is part of an overhaul of the management structure at the council.
The authority’s senior team was heavily criticised over the Lyme Green recycling plant fiasco, which cost the taxpayer more than £800,000.
Leader of Cheshire East Council Cllr Michael Jones (pictured, right) said today: “Lisa Quinn, Director of Finance and Business Services, left the council’s employment on Friday February 15, by mutual agreement.
“This follows the departure of two senior managers during December.
“Arrangements are already in place to cover her role, while the council continues with the planned introduction of a new management framework, which will be less opaque, more accountable and effective and less costly.
“I would like to thank Lisa for her hard work and commitment to the job during her time at Cheshire East and I wish her well for the future.”
Let us hope that CEC finds really competent replacements and doesn’t just give the jobs to their chums and cronies.
If the Council are continuing with the planned introduction of a new management framework, then they should do this with the electorate in mind. The leader says it will be more accountable. Perhaps he should make up his mind who the Council is accountable to. I suggest he starts by making a phone call to the Council Offices and pretends to be an ordinary member of the public, then see how difficult he finds it. Personally, I find it easier to get a doctor’s appointment. We are expected to make an appointment to speak to an officer and if we are lucky, someone may call us back in 3 days time, whether it’s urgent or not.
