‘The Very Best in Stand Up” returns to Nantwich Civic Hall with a top bill of UK comedy acts on April 5.
Compere and host is Matt Reed, who started comedy in 2001 and made the finals of the Daily Telegraph Open Mic award in 2002.
He was also “Leicester Comedian of the Year” the following year.
Since then he has become a firmly established staple of the comedy circuit.
First act is Danny Deegan, who has the confidence and swagger you might expect of a North West comedian at the very top of his game.
Deegan is a comedian, writer and actor who has become a regular at most of the major comedy clubs in the UK since he began performing in 2003.
He gigs all over the country for the top clubs and received a rapturous reception when he was last on stage at the Civic at the New Year’s Eve Show two years ago.
Elis James is regarded as one of the hottest prospects on the UK comedy circuit.
He began performing stand up in 2005 and was quickly selected to follow in the footsteps of Simon Pegg, Dylan Moran, Ardal O’Hanlon, Dara O’Briain and Ross Noble by starring in ‘Best of the Edinburgh Fest’ at the Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney Comedy Festivals.
With appearances on “8 Out of 10 Cats” and a supporting slot on tour with Rhod Gilbert, he is making his Nantwich debut.
Closing the show is Liverpool’s own ‘Nige’ – a finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2001.
Since then he has travelled the world, supporting top comics such as Ricky Gervais and Johnny Vegas and has won several awards including Liverpool Echo Comedian of the Year in 2003 and North West Breakthrough Comedian of the Year in 2005.
‘Nige’ even performed at the cultural bid show for judges and the comic creation is credited with helping to secure the Capital of Culture crown back in 2008.
The show takes place on Friday April 5. Tickets are £10, available from Nantwich Civic Hall & www.civiccomedy.co.uk
Doors 7.15pm, show 8.15pm.
