Nantwich families are being urged to join in South Cheshire’s first “Big Day Out” at the Dorfold Park Showground next month.
The event takes place on Saturday August 2 – just three days after the Nantwich Show is held at the same venue off Welsh Row.
Organisers RedShift Radio and Wulvern are promising a host of activities and entertainment for all ages.
This includes cheese and wine tasting, cinema zone, face painting from Hullabaloo, petting zoo with Zoo2U, prize treasure hunt, pub quiz, pamper treats, photo booth, cookery workshops with KidzKitchen and the Women’s Institute, arts and crafts with Oopsadaisy doodle, games and competitions.
There will be giant inflatables, Jo Jingles, kids disco, Zumba and Bokwa demos for energetic parents, a family rounders tournament, and more.
And organisers have arranged for live performances, including headline act Rachel Roberts with her Shirley Bassey Tribute, a musical theatre treat, plus performances from Nantwich Young Voices, X Academy, Josh Whittaker, Benjamin Stubbs, Tom Riddle, Callum Wright, Abbie Ozzard and others.
The event will celebrate 100 years of South Cheshire and includes a special ‘Poppy Picnic’, WW1 Art Exhibition and cookery competition, local film premier and story teller and a huge raffle in aid of the Royal British Legion to commemorate 100 years since the First World War.
The not for profit event is being supported by Nantwich Agricultural Society who are providing the main hospitality marquee and St Mary’s Nantwich.
Other organisations supporting the day include sponsors Little Tigers Magazine, Hibberts Solicitors, Cheshire East and Buildbase.
Local charitable organisations have been invited to provide an activity to help them raise funds and awareness of their cause so this promises to be a huge collective community fundraiser and fun day out for all who take part.
Guests are welcomed to bring their own picnics and drinks and alcohol is permitted.
Entry costs just £5 for adults and £3 for 4-14 year olds which can be purchased online at www.redshiftradio.co.uk/BigDayOut or available on the day at the gate.
All the activities and entertainment is free and there is free parking on the showground, off Welsh Row.
Ceris Esplen, from Wulvern, said: “This community gala promises to be a great day out for everyone!
“We have a variety of activities, music and entertainment, all under a huge marquee making this a vibrant and action packed all-weather event for all ages.”
Fellow organiser Liz Southall, from RedShift Radio, added: “We are inviting organisations to support the Big Day Out by taking a space on our Centenary Timeline – a huge board depicting the last 100 years of our community which will be moved around different locations over the next 12 months.
“Anyone interested should call 01270 440 750 or 07886 633 370 to get involved.”
