Comedy star Michael McIntyre is to perform live at Crewe Lyceum Theatre in October.
In a massive coup for the venue, McIntyre has chosen the Lyceum for a work-in-progress show before his hotly anticipated new “Happy & Glorious” tour in 2015.
His previous tour “Showtime” was the biggest selling comedy tour in the world in 2012.
He played to more than 640,000 people including a record-breaking ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena matching the pop-superstar Rihanna’s 2011 record.
“We are extraordinarily pleased to bring more big name comedy to Cheshire,” theatre director Gordon Millar said.
“We are delighted Michael has chosen this special venue and its enthusiastic audience as a warm-up venue.”
The addition of McIntyre’s work-in-progress show to the Lyceum’s line-up is another highlight in a programme of live entertainment scheduled for 2014/2015.
Other comedians to perform include stand-up Jimeoin on October 15, Richard Herring on October 17, cult comedian Noel Fielding on December 4, German comedy ambassador Henning Wehn on February 14, Omid Djalili on February 24 and Paul Merton’s Impro Chums in May 2015.
In September, McIntyre performed internationally to sold out arenas in South Africa, Dubai, Norway, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
Most recent highlights have included him making his debut as a chat show host on The Michael McIntyre’s Chat Show for BBC1.
His performance at the Lyceum is a work-in-progress and he may be referring to notes during his performance.
Tickets are £22.50 and are on-sale for Friends of the Lyceum on the Crewe Lyceum website at 5pm on Wednesday August 13, and on general sale at 5pm on Thursday August 14.
There is a £2.50 booking fee per ticket, and tickets are limited to six per person. Ages 16 plus.
