Scores of fun-loving Santas ran around Nantwich town centre to help raise charity cash in the annual Nantwich Santa Dash, writes Jonathan White.
And the “Rudolph family” deservedly won the best dressed competition as they consisted of a Father Christmas, Mother Christmas, sleigh and three reindeer!
There was a warm up from an Instructor from Everybody followed by a reminder of the two-kilometre route around the town.
Then participants moved to the start line for the 11am set off in cool and dry weather, which provided near perfect conditions!
The first runner crossed the finish line in around nine minutes, with the second placed runner a few seconds behind.
There were people dressed as Santa Claus, Mrs Claus, elves, a Christmas tree, a two-person reindeer and even a few Santa dogs!
Each participant received a medal, chocolate, mince pie and bottle of water.
All proceeds from the event will go to Hope House Children’s Hospices.
The race was once again sponsored by Nantwich-based 1st Choice for Homes with the chocolates supplied by Sugros Cash & Carry, the mince pies by Chatwins and the bottled water by The Co-operative Funeralcare (MillStreet, Crewe).
The course was marshalled by the Rotary Club of Crewe & Nantwich Weaver.
Liz Southall, from online community radio station RedShiftRadio, compered the event on the town square and thanked sponsors, volunteers and participants for making the event possible.
