Nantwich Town manager Danny Johnson feels his side can be as good as any team in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
Johnson believes his side’s 1-1 draw with third place Buxton at the Weaver Stadium shows they can compete with the best.
The Dabbers were just seconds from victory against the promotion chasers when a goal deep into injury time from Shaun Tuton stole a point for the visitors.
Nantwich have only conceded one goal in the last two games against sides challenging at the top of the table.
Johnson said: “We know how good they can be. It’s about keeping people on the pitch.
“For me it doesn’t matter who’s top of the table.
“I have always said if we got the team out that I want out on the pitch then we are as good as anyone in the league.
“We are showing that at the minute.
“We are not getting that rub of the green that is going to help move us away from the precious position we are in and until we start taking our chances like the ones in the first half we won’t.
“We are not going to win football games on a consistent basis.
“But we are competing and making massive strides from where we were back in October and November.”
Saturday’s game was John Disney’s final match for Nantwich as he returns to Chester FC following his loan spell.
Johnson expects Shaun Dowling to step in at right back.
He said: “Shaun is going to have to come in at right back and perform.
“We are looking at bringing a couple in but it’s difficult.
“But we will go with what we have got. We have got a good group of 14 to 15 players and we should be ok.”
Nantwich Town are in action on Boxing Day away at Witton Albion, kick off is 3pm.
