More than 50 general knowledge buffs took part in a British-themed quiz in Nantwich which raised a bumper £1,000 for hospice care.
The event, organised by insolvency specialists BCR, drew a record crowd of accountants, bankers and lawyers to Residence Restaurant on Mill Street.
It was the fourth annual event staged by BCR and proceeds will be split between St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice in Winsford and Douglas Macmillan Hospice at Trentham.
Managing director Phil Wood, who was at the helm as quiz-master, said: “The evening continues to grow in popularity and this year we had a full house.
“All tables were sold to teams from local businesses who also gave generously to the raffle.
“I am delighted the quiz has become so firmly established on the social calendar and raises such a sizeable sum for the hospices.”
Teams paid £50 to take part and were tested on their knowledge of all things British including questions on sport, geography, TV, music and current affairs.
Questions such as ‘Name the longest British motorway’ (M6), ‘Where would you find the Great Orme’ (Llandudno) and Which band member recently left One Direction (Zayn Malik) left many rivals stumped.
Victory went to a team of business managers from NatWest on Festival Park who carried off the BCR 2015 cup.
Other companies attending included Lloyds, Barclays, Handelsbanken, Beswicks Legal, Bowcock & Pursail, Grindeys Solicitors, Myers Solicitors, Luis Taylor, Weaver Accountants and Howard Worth.
Mr Wood added: “We were delighted once again to see so many businesses support the evening.
“There was good-humoured rivalry and some great banter between professionals from quite different backgrounds but united in an effort to support the hospices.”
