Tarporley High School and Sixth Form College has won £2.5 million of government funding to revitalise its campus.
The school submitted two ambitious bids to make extensive improvements and provide a 21st century upgrade to its current buildings.
Work will include replacing most of the roofs on the school buildings, and replacing all of the existing external walling, windows and ceilings.
It will also provide a new efficient ventilation and lighting system for one of the school’s main teaching blocks.
The project will start this term and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2016.
The scheme will transform the school site and provide significant improvements to the learning environment for all.
Headteacher Sarah Lee said: “This is the largest capital investment the school has received since the mid-1970s and is very exciting for staff, students and governors.
“The scheduled works have been planned in such a way that lessons will be able to continue as normal so we anticipate that any disruption will be minimal.”
