Overwater Marina near Nantwich has become Cheshire’s southern most base for a Co-Wheels Car Club Car.
Co-wheels is an award-winning Community Interest Company and the UK’s largest independent national car club operator.
More than 60 towns and cities across the country have Co-wheels car clubs.
And Overwater Marina, based on Coole Lane, is the latest to adopt the ‘pay-as-you-go’ driving solution.
The new Toyota Yaris hybrid car is ‘moored’ in a parking bay at the marina, and can be hired for 30 minutes to days at a time.
Hourly hire charge (plus small per mile fee) includes insurance and fuel, and allows visitors and moorers flexible access to a car for short trips.
Visitors can sign up to join on the day, or register online, and are issued a smartcard which allows them key-free access to the car.
Co-wheels’ online booking system means the car can be booked at a moment’s notice at any time of the day or night.
Richard Falconer, managing director of Co-wheels Car Club, said: “We are delighted to be working with Overwater Marina to provide a flexible travel resource for boaters and visitors in this stunning location.
“Joining the car club is a perfect solution for anyone looking to have a car for short periods of time, and we hope this really opens up travel opportunities for anyone visiting the marina by boat.”
