Big-hearted volunteers teamed up to help spruce up one of Nantwich’s most historic routes, Monks Lane.
Nantwich Civic Society members got to work down the footway where they painted bollards and lamp posts.
The Civic Society has teamed up with Nantwich Rotary to “celebrate” the relaying of the surface and drainage to Monks Lane by Cheshire East Council.
Civic Society chairman Jeff Stubbs said: “We have been asking them to do this work for a long time.
“So everyone is pleased to help out to make this historic pathway look even better.
“However, despite the dry weather we had been hoping for – it was just too cold for the paint to flow and then dry!
“We, nevertheless, cleaned them all and pruned some bushes back ready for whenever we can get painting.”
Monks Lane dates back centuries and connects South Crofts to Churchyardside in the town centre.
Any use Rachael? https://www.facebook.com/Nantwich-Civic-Society-227522607457934/ . I Googled the title of the society.
Jeff, you haven’t given an email address.
No my point is, this paper publishes an article of a past event, with no contact details added for a reader to join in for a later event.
For example the Britain in Bloom event, just where were the articles asking for volunteers to help well before the day? And nothing is known of how well or not our town did.
Sorry, Rachel.
Drop me your email and I will gladly add you to our volunteer list.
We havea. Good grouping of people from Civic society ( of which I am chair), Rotary and the huge Nantwich Litter group.
Jeff.
This is what I don’t understand about this paper, I moved to Nantwich from Leeds six months ago, and all these articles don’t actually advertise for helpers before the job is done, just who are these groups?!!
