Organisers of Nantwich Food Festival are holding an open evening for volunteers for this September’s event.
The festival, in Nantwich town centre, is run entirely by volunteers and needs around 100 community-spirited people to get involved.
This year’s event is expected to pull in 45,000 visitors during the three-day festival.
Organisers need to fill several volunteer roles, from welcoming the public, issuing advice, handing out leaflets, litter picking, car parks stewarding, and health and safety.
Volunteers also work closely with more than 200 exhibitors lining the town’s streets.
Volunteer Coordinator Jo Lowry said: “The festival is a great opportunity to join our friendly community, do something for Nantwich, make new friends, and have great fun at the same time.
“There are no set hours or requirements, so people can help for two hours, all day, or even the whole weekend.
“Anyone with a little spare time and wants to be part of our success should get involved to help make our town the special place we all love.
“We have volunteers of all ages, so anyone is welcome to join us at the open evening.”
Award-winning Cheshire firm Rhino Safety will provide professional health and safety advice, and help prepare volunteers, for the third year running.
Director Simon Walter said: “We love being involved with the food festival because it’s one of Cheshire’s most celebrated events and brings people together from all over the county.
“With so many visitors attending each year, it is essential exhibits, machinery and access points for the public are kept safe so that everyone can enjoy the experience.
“Rhino Safety helps to implement effective training and produces the required documentation to ensure that health and safety standards are high.
“This ensures everyone involved can safely relax and enjoy one of the most respected food and drink festivals in the country.”
The Volunteer Open Evening will be at the Wickstead Arms in Nantwich on Monday May 22, from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
Drinks and snacks will be provided, and no obligation to sign up.
