A new season of live comedy arrives at Nantwich Civic Hall on February 2, with a host of top acts.
And headlining The Very Best In Stand Up’s opening show of 2018 is Charlie Baker (pictured).
The first act is Steve Royle, an actor, writer, comedian, juggler, and most recently became a regular presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire.
Steve is a regular headline act at The Comedy Store.
He performed alongside Steve Coogan and Peter Kay at the Apollo Theatre Manchester and landed a role in channel 4’s “Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere”.
He also appeared in “The Laughter Show” at the North Pier Blackpool with Mick Miller, Roy Walker and Duncan Norvelle, and on Granada TV’s “Behind The Scene” and “That’s Entertainment”.
He was voted “Entertainer of the Year” at the inaugural Red Rose Awards.
The next act is Black Country comic Sean Percival.
The ex-welder from Dudley, whose act is steeped in the traditions of the working mens clubs circuit, is bang up to date with its upfront attitude.
Sean’s brand of comedy steers clear of the surreal and confronts realism in an explosively funny way.
He has performed at Edinburgh, Glastonbury and Reading Festivals, and at all major comedy clubs around the UK.
Last up is Baker, who was forced to cancel an appearance in Nantwich last year.
His instant likeability and charming delivery has earned him a reputation as “a superior take on the modern showman” (The Guardian).
He is a popular face on TV panel shows such as A Short History Of Everything Else (Channel 4), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC2), Rob Brydon’s Christmas Special (BBC1), Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live 2012 & 2013 (BBC3), and The Comedy Store (Comedy Central).
Charlie also won ‘Let’s Dance For Comic Relief’ and recently starred alongside Harry Hill in ‘Harry Hill’s Tea Time’.
Compere is Danny McLoughlin, a highly regarded MC and sought after name on any circuit bill.
He regularly performs at the UK’s biggest clubs including The Comedy Store, The Glee clubs and Komedia, music festivals including Latitude and Leeds, and is a regular MC for the coveted lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Awards Galas.
During his career, Danny also supported a number of acts on tour including Sean Lock, Micky Flanagan, Sarah Millican and Doc Brown.
The show is on Friday February 2 and tickets are on sale at £10 from Civic Hall or from the SeeTickets link on www.civiccomedy.co.uk
Doors open at 7.15pm and the show starts at 8.15pm.
