A Tarporley hair salon owner has scooped a national award less than a year after opening.
Paula Wood, from Haughton, has just celebrated her first business anniversary at Saks Hair in Knutsford.
And she’s already made a big impact after winning the Fundraising Salon of the year 2017 award.
This comes after the salon raised a staggering £10,000 for the Eveappeal charity.
Paula, who was invited to the House of Commons to launch Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, and her team also got involved with the charity skcin.
“We all completed a national accreditation programme for hair professionals to promote the prevention and early detection of skin cancer,” said Paula.
The Saks Hair salon was also a semi-finalist for the prestigious L’Oréal Colour Trophy for the men’s image award which took place in Liverpool.
Now the 41-year-old, who used to live in Barbridge in Nantwich, has found out her salon is a finalist for the hair awards 2018, the Regional Salon of the Year (North).
Paula lived in North Wales as a child where she went to school, and moved back there when her son was starting school.
“As I was a single mum, I worked in Chester until I met my husband who was from Stoke.
“We stuck a pin in a map central to Stoke and Chester for equal distance to our places of work which is how we ended up in Nantwich!”
Her son went to Reaseheath College to study adventure sports before starting an apprenticeship at Build Skills in Winsford.
Paula said: “At the minute I employ two stylists, one apprentice and have a work experience girl once a week.
“I am currently in the process of interviewing.”
The salon currently has offers on for new clients, until June 30. Visit the website for more details.
