Nantwich Town Council has missed out on funds to pay for community projects under the New Homes Bonus scheme, councillors were told.

The council had submitted a number of bids for a share of the £162,000 pot made available under the New Homes Bonus fund by Cheshire East Council.

A married couple who conned Cheshire victims out of thousands in a kitchen scam, have been sentenced in court for multiple fraud offences.

Kevin Cairns, 45, and Gillian Cairns, 46, pretended to run kitchen and furniture companies and duped victims from Cheshire and America into paying large sums of money for work that was never carried out.

Children at a Nantwich school proved a runaway success when it came to fundraising for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice.

More than 200 youngsters from Highfields Academy took part in a Rudolph Run just before Christmas raising a record amount for the Winsford-based facility.
