Fire crews were called out to tackle a tree on fire on land in Calveley, near Nantwich.
The incident happened 11:20am yesterday (March 29) on land off Nantwich Road, Calveley.
Cheshire Fire crews from Tarporley were called to a report of a fire in the open at a farm.
They found a rotten tree well alight as a result of controlled burning having spread to it.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
Once the fire was out the area affected by it was damped down to make it safe, with temperatures monitored with a thermal imaging camera.
Firefighters were in attendance for more than half-an-hour.
