Computer businesses in Nantwich and Crewe are helping children connect with online school learning by repairing donated laptops.
The Laptop Shop, on Hospital Street, and Nantwich Computer Consultant Nic Bunting are taking in donated devices so they can be fixed on passed on to youngsters without them.
It means many more children can connect with their schools’ online lessons during the pandemic lockdown.
The Rotary Club of Nantwich is helping to take in donated laptops and tablets that are no longer needed.
And businesses like Applewood Independent are also involved in appealing for unwanted devices to be handed over.
All devices are being renovated, upgraded and securely wiped where necessary for school use.
Any computers not suitable will be recycled responsibly.

Councillors helped set up the campaign to get more devices donated and so far have delivered 55 devices to five schools across Nantwich and Crewe, with a further 16 promised by local businesses.
One of the founders of the group Cllr Anthony Critchley said: “We found a void and felt that we had to do something practical for the children and families in our area.
“The public have really bought in to the project, the number of donations has been heart-warming. But this could not have been done without the dedication of our volunteers.
“Nic Bunting runs The Nantwich Computer Consultant in Nantwich and has an incredible thirst for all things tech, along with a wealth of knowledge based in Nantwich.
“In Crewe, we have Paul Clarke who is equally as passionate and talented with machines.
“They themselves have been great, allowing donations to be dropped off to take home and work on.
“Jayne Wright, who is based in Shavington has been a trooper too, collecting and delivering donated devices to Paul and Nic.
“The overall campaign has just been so smooth because of the kindness and generosity of people.”
