A number of Ukrainian refugees have now settled in Cheshire East under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, the council has confirmed.
So far, 13 people have now arrived and settled with more set to come.
A new website and series of videos have been published to back a campaign for Crewe to be the home of Great British Railways.
The dedicated website – www.gbrcrewe.co.uk – aims to show all Crewe has to offer and give the public the chance to pledge their support and get behind the campaign.

Cheshire East Council might have to scrap some of its controversial rubble charges if government plans to change rules around charging for DIY waste go ahead.
The council introduced its rubble charge – up to £3.50 for a bag – in January 2018.

Tory Cheshire East MP Edward Timpson said Government leaders should lead by example and called it “shameful” those setting the rules did not follow them during lockdown.
Eddisbury MP Mr Timpson issued a statement after Prime Minister Boris Johnson apologised for breaking the rules when he was fined £50 following the police investigation into Partygate.

Cheshire East Council will drive ahead with scaled-back plans to improve bus services despite the government putting the brakes on some schemes by refusing grant funding.
The council had put together an ambitious bus service improvement programme (BSIP) in the hope of securing funding as part of the government’s national “bus back better” strategy.

Four officers at Cheshire East Council were paid more than £100,000 each in the 2020-21 financial year.
The council also paid out nearly £250,000 in relation to one former staff member for redundancy and pension strain costs.

Plans have been submitted for a new commercial business park at Alvaston on the outskirts of Nantwich.
Blok (UK) Ltd wants to build six office blocks with parking for 153 cars on the 2.73 acre grassland site north of the Alvaston roundabout.
Cheshire East Council has outlined its planned works programme for highways in 2022-23.
The programme includes repairs and renovations on roads, paths and bridges in and around the Nantwich area as well as across the borough.
Cheshire East Council bosses say they will make nearly 130,000 council tax energy rebate payments having been allocated £19.2m from the government.
The council is setting up two schemes for the £150 rebate.

Crewe is one of a number of towns and cities across the UK that have submitted a bid to host the headquarters of Great British Railways, the new organisation which will run the UK’s rail network.
Cheshire East residents have volunteered 79 properties to accommodate one or more Ukrainian refugees fleeing the invasion of their country by Russia.
Around 200 Ukrainians are so far registered to come to the borough under the “Homes for Ukraine” Government scheme.

Cheshire East Council has 75 full time vacancies it is struggling to fill at its Care4CE service provider at a time when pressure is mounting with more people needing care.
The council is ramping up its recruitment efforts but Jill Broomhall, operational director of adult social care at Cheshire East Council, said the private sector was struggling too, with lower paid staff leaving for higher paid jobs in other sectors and managers being head-hunted.
PCR testing sites in Crewe and Macclesfield will be closed from Friday (April 1) as part of central government plans to close all free testing sites by the end of March.
Also, from Friday 1 April, free LFD tests will end.
