River Weaver levels in Nantwich are continuing to rise after heavy rain and strong winds over the last week. These pictures by reader Jonathan White show the storm damage to trees by the river around Mill Island, Queen’s Drive and Waterlode.
The Environment Agency has warned of possible flooding of the River Weaver in Nantwich as a storm is about to hit the UK. A Flood Alert has been issued for the Weaver catchment between Nantwich and Northwich over the next 24 hours.
Drivers in Nantwich and Crewe are warned to avoid the A500 and M6 junction 16 after a fire involving a lorry carrying cooking oil. The heavy goods vehicle overturned on the northbound sliproad at junction 16.
