Nantwich families facing “top-up” care home fees from cash-strapped Cheshire East

More families of elderly people in costly care homes in Cheshire East will be asked to pay ‘top-up’ fees as the cash-strapped council struggles to balance its books.

And the authority’s executive director of adults, health and integration admitted she “couldn’t rule out” the prospect of having to move some residents who are in care homes above the council’s budget.

The introduction of new parking charges across Cheshire East in October could be followed by an increase in those fees as early as next January.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) sought clarification about a further hike in prices after the highways and transport committee last month voted in favour of reviewing parking charges annually.

The cost of getting married in Cheshire East is going up – although the increase in the ceremony fee won’t affect most couples until 2025.

Couples who get married or enter into civil partnerships in premises such as Tatton Park, hotels, stately homes or other approved premises in the borough on a Monday to Friday pay registration ceremony fees of £600.
