More winter snow and ice is causing problems on South Cheshire’s roads and with bin collections. Refuse teams are battling to catch up with bin collections across the region after snow and ice caused a backlog.
Highways chiefs have promised to fix the pot-hole problems plaguing residents and motorists on Marsh Lane in Nantwich. Cheshire East Council says it has sent a team to assess the road which has sparked complaints from residents, teachers and town councillors.

Work on damaged roads in and around Nantwich has been bolstered by a £2.3 million grant from the Government. The funding comes after Cheshire East councillors lobbied Ministers for more cash to repair highways badly damaged by freezing winters and floods.
Nantwich’s roads will be maintained by a different company after Cheshire East Council unveiled its new approach to servicing the area’s highways. A new fleet of gritting vehicles, roadwork updates via Twitter and savings of more than £1 million a year are being promised by the council.
