A blaze has damaged a popular play centre in Shavington, near Nantwich. Crews from Nantwich and Crewe were called out to tackle the fire which broke out at Playworld on Newcastle Road.
A Willaston councillor is calling for street lights along a busy route in the Nantwich village to be switched back on. Newcastle Road falls under the new Cheshire East Council initiative to switch off or reduce street lighting to cut costs.
Cheerbrook Farm Shop in Nantwich has been nominated for the prestigious “Rural Oscars”. The store, off Newcastle Road, has been nominated for the Butcher’s Award in the Countryside Alliance Awards which aim to celebrate rural life, produce and communities.
