Nantwich Museum has celebrated the town’s salt-making history by making salt in the square by the traditional method of evaporating brine.
Visitors viewed the boiling of local brine similar to that taken from Nantwich’s Old Biot salt spring, which for centuries supplied the brine which the town’s prosperity was built on.
Experts will be holding a special salt-making demonstration in Nantwich to show people how the town became famous for it!
Specialists from Nantwich Museum will be on the town square on Thursday May 9 to see how salt was made during the medieval period using brine from the Old Biot.
Nantwich residents are being asked to nominate “landmark” buildings and features in the town for a new Cheshire Local List of heritage assets.
