South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce is behind a final push to get residents backing Crewe’s bid to become home of the Great British Railways as the closing date for votes approaches.
The Chamber is rallying the support of all its business members and their employees and families to “Vote Crewe!” by the deadline of August 15.
More than 100 businesses have penned an open letter to the Transport Secretary backing Crewe’s bid to be the home of the Great British Railways (GBR) Headquarters.
And now Crewe’s namesake town in Virginia (US) has backed the campaign!
Crewe has made a shortlist of six towns and cities in the UK in the race to be selected as the new headquarters of Great British Railways.
It was chosen with York, Bimringham, Derby, Doncaster and Newcastle-upon-Tyne out of 42 towns and cities that applied.
Politicians and business leaders across Cheshire have welcomed the launch of a competition to find the home of the new Great British Railways HQ and have backed Crewe to clinch the honour.
The town has been featured in the competition announcement video with broadcaster Michael Portillo championing.
