British Hen Welfare Trust rehomes 5,000th hen in Cheshire

The British Hen Welfare Trust in Cheshire has rehomed its 5,000th hen as a new pet.

The team, based in Nantwich and run by Cheshire coordinator David Marek, took more than 300 hens out of their colony cages and rehomed them to 61 different families earlier this month.

Adoption day for retired hens to be held in Nantwich

A third adoption day for retired caged hens due for slaughter is being held in Nantwich on Sunday May 26.

The event has been organised by the British Hen Welfare Trust, a national rehoming charity which saves more than 60,000 hens from slaughter every year.
