A stunning visual display of hundreds of donated knitted and wooden poppies is on display at St Mary’s Church in Acton as part of Remembrance.

The knitted poppies were made by members of the Haughton and Faddiley WI and the wooden poppies were made by church members Charles Hull and James Stott.

More “virtual” Remembrance Sunday services are being held across Crewe and Nantwich as real services have had to be cancelled because of Covid lockdown.

Nantwich Town Council announced earlier this week they would be streaming the service live from St Mary’s Church in Nantwich.

Wellington Bomber crew remembered at Bridgemere service

A commemorative service was held at the Royal Air Force’s Memorial at Bridgemere to remember the crew of a Wellington bomber which crashed near to the village.

The commemoration took place exactly 74 years to the day the plane disintegrated over Bridgemere, crashing just off the A51 and killing six of the seven crew.

A guard of honour was organised by Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the 35th South West Cheshire Scout group, who welcomed councillors from Cheshire East and Wistaston.
